The Blue Flag is a voluntary eco-label, awarded to more than 4000 beaches and marinas in 50 countries across the world. The Blue Flag institution works towards sustainable development of beaches and marinas through strict criteria dealing with water quality, environmental education, and information, environmental management, safety, etc.
14 Resorts in Bulgaria (a record number for our country 
) are awarded the prize for the summer season of 2022! These are 18 beaches and 1 yacht port. The certificate is announced every year.
The ownership of the "Blue Flag" certificate ensures that the beach and the seawater are clean, there is no pollution from sewage and industrial wastewater, the beach is cleaned of waste, guarded by lifeguards, and there are available showers, toilets, medical care facilities, etc. Particular attention this season, as well as the previous one, is paid to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, which affects all businesses, especially tourism. "Blue Flag" beaches are subject to special measures against the spread of the virus, among others mentioned by the program.
By 2022, winners of the Prize are over 4820 beaches and ports in 50 countries, including Bulgaria! There are 18 Bulgarian beaches (+ 1 yacht port) meeting the standards for the upcoming season.

The cleanest beaches in Bulgaria:
1. The White Lagoon
The beach is a winner of the “Blue Flag” for the second time. The area is known for its unspoiled nature, clean water and rocky shores. There is no surprise that one of the cleanest beaches is located there. 2. Albena
