Sveti Vlas is one of the oldest settlements in the region. The village of Sveti Vlas was founded in the 2nd century by the ancient Thracians.

2. About the name “Sveti Vlas”

Initially, it brought the name “Larisa”, and later in the 14th century, it adopted the name of “Sveti Vlas” (Saint Vlas) – patron of traders, breeders, and healers. He is an honoured saint of the Catholic and the Eastern Orthodox Church. A monastery with the name of the saint had existed in the 14th – 18th century, but it was destroyed by a fire during the multiple raids of pirates.

3. The biggest yacht port in Bulgaria

In 2007 Marina Dinevi was founded in Sveti Vlas. It is the largest and the most modern yacht port in Bulgaria with a capacity of 300 yachts. The Marina is situated at the foot of the southern slopes of the Balkan mountain protecting the area from the cold northern winds.
